Abstract

To diagnose quantitatively the flat type neoplasm of large intestine, we studied pitpattern by computer analysis of stereomicroscopical and histological image. This studyassessed the the characteris of pit pattern, with parameters (maximum diameter, circumference, area field, roundness and convexity) by computer image analysis after extatraction of pit pattern in 8 eases with normal large intestine and 34 cases with flat typeneoplasm of large intestine (12 cases of tubular adenoma with moderately atypia, 13 casesof tubular adenoma with severe atypia and g cases of cancer), and evaluated the correlationbetween stereomicroscopical and histological image in 30 cases (4 cases of normal largeintestine, 11 cases of tubular adenoma with moderate atypia, 10 cases of tubular adenomawith severe atypia and 4 cases of cancer) . The results revealed that ail the parametersshowed significant difference respectively between moderately atypia and cancer (P < 0.05) .Moreover circumference and convexity were significantly different between severe atypiaand cancer (p < 0.05), respectively, and there were correlation between stereomicroscopicaland hystologieal imagos. This results supported tho possibility of quantitative diagnosis.
