Introduction: This study aims to clarify care managers' perceptions and actions concerning the care management of middle-aged working adults with acquired disabilities seeking social reintegration, as well as their views on functional training programs designed to enhance independent living skills.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 care managers, and qualitative descriptive analysis was conducted.
Results: The analysis identified the core category "Exploring Solutions to Problems," along with three main categories: (1) Difficulties in Support Due to Limited Experience and Practice, (2) Initiating Support Through Interprofessional Collaboration, and (3) Seeking Appropriate Care Management. Additionally, 15 subcategories and 50 codes were extracted.
Conclusion: It was suggested that care managers should not passively view the barriers arising from the nature of the functional training program as a welfare service system for people with disabilities and the discrepancy with the characteristics of the care manager's profession itself, but rather determine the hopes and feasibility of people with acquired disabilities to return to society, and reflect this program in their care plans.
