Abstract

Porosity is a key physical property of rocks and influences fluid flow and seismic velocity. In this study, we compared the imbibition and impregnation methods for measuring fluid-filled porosity, using mafic and ultramafic core samples collected by the Oman Drilling Project. Our results show impregnation to be faster than imbibition in terms of obtaining water saturation, although ≥ 10 days is still required to achieve saturation in low-porosity core samples.
