Abstract
Clinical application of the gaschromatographic analysis of plasma amino acids was performed for the purpose of studying the fasting levels of plasma free amino acids after the oral administration of milk in the normal young and aged peoples.
Although all the amino acids, including alanine, glycine, valine, leucine, proline, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, methionine and phenylalanine analysed by gaschromatography tenderd to decrease with age, the decrease of essential amino acids such as valine, leucine and methionine was significantly higher than that of aspartic acid & phenylalanine.
The lower levels of fasting plasma amino acids and the more rapid increase of plasma amino acids after oral administration of milk in the aged people suggested the difference of amino acid metabolism and absorption between the young and aged peoples.
