CHROMOSOME PAIRING AND CHIASMA BEHAVIOUR IN THE MALE RUMEX ACETOSA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE TRIPARTITE SEX-CHROMOSOME

Abstract

The chromosome pairing and the chiasma behaviour were studied in the male Rumex Acetosa of the BB type. The triradial pairing of a tripartite sex-chromosome was ascertained and the crossing-over among tripartite chromosomes is predicted by the occurrence of chiasmata, based on the chiasma theory.
