The chromosomes of the Japanese weevil, Catapionus gracilicornis Roelofs, have been investigated in Niigata Prefecture. A triploid parthenogenetic race (3x=33) was found in Miomote. The species is now known to have three parthenogenetic races, 3x, 4x, 5x, as well as a diploid bisexual race.
