A View for the Promotion of Solid Earth and Planetary Scieces and the Related Mineralogical Research Subjets

Abstract

A review on proposals for the developments of material sciences of Earth and Planets by mineralogical ap-proaches is given on the basis of official proposals of Science Council of Japan and a committee for Ministry of Education. Discoveries of more than 10, 000 Antarctic meteorites promoted researches in this field, but an establishment of research centers on the solid planetary materials will help promote mineralogy in future. Some examples of research projects of the author's group have been given as an example for a future direction of mineralogy. A principle on the evolution of materials in the solar system will be deduced from solid planetary materials by future mineralogical microanalysis techniques.
