Abstract
In this review, we discussed the characteristics of the high-resolution solid state NMR analysis for the rubbers and nanocomposites. The change of the molecular motion of the vulcanized styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) affected by the magic angle spinning (MAS) were studied by the temperature dependence of the 1H spin-lattice relaxation time (T1). We investigated the orientation direction of the unvulcanized natural rubber through the static angular-dependent 13C NMR. The rubbers having the double bond in the unit showed the angular dependence of the magnetic susceptibility against the applied static magnetic field, while the rubbers without the double bond did not show such dependence. The role of the organic modifier on clay surface in the Nylon6/clay nanocomposites was analyzed by the simple 1H MAS NMR spectra.
