Abstract
HR-Sulfur vulcanizates filled with L-CaCO3 and containing various kinds of rubber chemicals, and IIR-Sulfur and Oxime vulcanizates filled with HAF black were subjected to Co-60 gamma irradiation. The same procedures as in previous papers were applied in this paper also. The following results were obtained.
(1) IIR vulcanizates were deteriorated with irradiation from 5 × 106 to 1 × 107r and became viscous with irradiation of 5 × 107r. This makes the determination of vulcanizates properties impossible.
(2) Little change was observed in elongation but an extreme decrease of tensile strength was observed with an increasing radiation dose, and hence IIR seemed to be a polymer of typical degrading type.
(3) Antirads were not effective on IIR vulcanizates.
