Sulfur-vulcanizable acrylic elastomer (ADM) and1, 2polybutadiene (1, 2PB) were blended in various ratios and the physical properties of their vulcanizates were measured. It is known in elastomer blends that curative diffusion has decisive effect on physical properties of their vulcanizates. Therefore the curative diffusion in ADM and1, 2PB pure gum blends was studied by the analysis of oscillating disk rheometer curves. The curative migration was indicated by the results, but it was estimated that the crosslinking reaction occured uniformly in each phase from the measurement of the following properties, i.e.both hysteresis loss and compression set at high temperature and swelling. The blends of ADM and1, 2PB showed better properties than those of conventional acrylic elastomer and1, 2-PB.
