Abstract
New type reactive antioxidants consisting of the combination of reactive agents, spacers and antioxidants have been investigated. These three components reacted each other during vulcanization to change triazine thiol-type reactive antioxidants. The formed triazine thiol-type reactive antioxidants were combined to NBR molecules by help of curing agents during vulcanization. In some combinations, triazine trithiols-N-methylole-aminodiphenylamine system had the highest % Bond of antioxidants. On the other hand, the selection of curing system was of importance to force to combine the antioxidants to NBR during vulcanization. The small amount of sulfur curing system consisting of TMTM, NBTS, sulfur and Vulcalent E was best for the % bond and monosulfide content. Newly developed reactive antioxidant system gave higher heat resistance than commercial antioxidants to NBR vulcanizates and slight lower heat resistance than copolymer with antioxidant groups. New reactive antioxidant system, however, was effective for application to various grades more than the copolymer system.
