Abstract
GPC and intrinsic viscosity, [η] were measured for the samples prepared by the polymerization with various amounts of chain transfer reagent, n-DDM (n-dodecylmercaptan). Data were analysed by the GPC-intrinsic viscosity method developed by Kurata, Benoit, Coleman et al. and were obtained number averaged molecular weight Mn, weight averaged molecular weight Mw, and long chain branching parameter λ. The existance of n-DDM was clarified to be effective to reduce the number of branching. The dependence of the branching on conversion is also shifted by the amount of n-DDM. Then, it was concluded that n-DDM is effective not only to regulate primary molecular weight but also to hinder branching.
