Abstract
We investigated at first whether laboratory indices for roiling resistance (RR) and wet skid resistance (WS) properties of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)/cabon black (CB) vulcanizate were also applicable to those of a SBR/silica vulcanizate, by comparing various physical properties of both vulcanizates. Temperature dependence of the shift factor (log aT), the values of tanδ at 0°C, 15Hz and the values of friction factor of the SBR/silica vulcanizate were almost same as those of the SBR/CB vulcanizate. Therefore, we determined to apply indices for RR and WS properties of SBR/CB vulcanizate as the labo-scale measures for the performance of the SBR/silica vulcanizate.
Second, we studied the effects of microstructures and modifications of SBRs on these indices and a Lambourn abrasion property of the SBR/silica vulcanizates.
