Abstract
We designed a self-etching primer comprised of N-metharylyroyl-w-amino acid, NMwA. The decalcification of the teeth components by the carboxylic acid in the NMwA and its effects on the bond strength of resin to tooth were examined. The decalcification amount by the carboxylic acid in the NMwA on the hydroxyapatite or dentin was strongly dependent on the pKa value of the carboxylic acid.
