Abstract

We have newly constructed the assay system to study the biological impact of contact to metal plate. Using this method, we found that the contact to Cu plate induced the rapid cell death accompanied by vacuolization, lower expression of apoptotic markers and dramatic increase in the cystine consumption due to its oxidative action. We report here two different approaches to reduce the cytotoxicity of Cu. First approach is to provide the antioxidative conditions (saliva, hypoxia and polyphenol), and the second approach is to construct the alloy that contains different ratios of Au to Cu in atomic percent.
