Surface modification of titanium by blue-violet laser

Abstract
As consistency of application to medical care of the blue-violet semiconductor laser which Nichia developed, The possibility of surface modification of the titanium surface using the blue-violet semiconductor laser was examined, combining with various surface treatments such as TiO2 solution application. For evaluation of photocatalytic effect, contact angle of the surface was measured and methyleneblue resolution test and bacteria adhesion test was investigated to evaluate antibacterial effects. For evaluation of biocompatibility, adhesion of osteoblastic cell to the specimen was investigated. In the result, methyleneblue resolution was significantly (p<0.05) promoted in TiO2 solution applying and LD irradiation.
