Abstract
Background. Benign metastasizing leiomyoma is a rare disease in which leiomyoma of the uterus metastasizes to the lung despite the benign nature of the tumor. Case. A 50-year-old woman with multiple pulmonary nodules had undergone hysterectomy for leiomyoma of the uterus at the age of 36, after twice having undergone myomectomy. She had also undergone a partial right lung resection for a pulmonary nodule at the age of 42. The lung tumor proved to be a hamartoma. We performed a left S6 segmentectomy and left S10 partial lung resection for multiple bilateral pulmonary tumors. The pathological diagnosis was benign metastasizing leiomyoma. We re-examined the histological findings of the uterine tumors; they were all diagnosed as adenomyoma. Conclusion. We report a case of pulmonary tumors, diagnosed as benign metastasizing leiomyoma, in a patient with uterine adenomyoma.
