Abstract
We report 23 cases of pulmonary metastasis of thyroid cancer, with special reference to the results of curative therapy. Of 16 cases with radioactive iodine (R.I.) uptake, 2 cases showed complete response to R.I. therapy, 13 cases showed curative effects, and only one case showed no effective. In one case, the pulmonary metastatic lesion was resected after R.I. Therapy, and efficacy was confirmed on hyalinization and other changes.
Pulmonary metastasis was more often seen in female patients, and prognosis was better in younger patients. No differences in the metastatic rate and prognosis between papillary adenocarcinoma and follicular adenocarcinoma were noticed.
Studies were made on the sex, age, tissue type, onset of pulmonary metastasis, therapy, and prognosis.
