The vital period of the murine leprosy bacillus kept in Kirchner's media was examined. It was found that after more than 60 days the bacillus had no infection ability. Therefore, it may be concluded that, when successive cultivation is possible more than 60 days in Kirchner's media and the infection ability is recognized, the result of the cultivation should be positive.
