Abstract
Training for daily life activities as well as transition support for employment provided as welfare services are introduced, and our comparative study on subjective QOL between people with higher brain dysfunction and those with physical disabilities is reported. The training center at National Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities provides rehabilitation services (training for daily life activities and functional training) and transition support for employment for people with physical disabilities and those with higher brain dysfunction. In the training for daily life activities, supports for mobility, household task, communication, etc. are provided according to an individual support plan prepared so that the goal established for each person based on an assessment such as a support needs assessment will be achieved. In the transition support for employment, workplace on-site training, skill acquisition training, job matching service, etc. are provided. When the QOL and activities of daily living are assessed using WHOQOL and Barthel Index, respectively, for people with higher brain dysfunction and those with physical disabilities who use the training center, it was indicated that despite the people with higher brain dysfunction are nearly independent in terms of activities of daily living, their senses of affirmation of themselves and their lives are relatively low compared with those with physical disabilities.
