Abstract
In this research, statistical analysis of a consultation support system for persons with higher brain dysfunction was conducted based on reports issued by the National Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities (2011) . The system was also examined quantitatively. Out of 41 prefectures, two regions identified as having outlying values were omitted, hence, 39 prefectures were included in the analysis. Each year, 527.2 (± 526.4) direct consultations and 269.3 (± 301.2) indirect consultations were held for a total of 796.6 (± 735.0) cases in support institutions. When converted into a population ratio, this total was calculated to be 47.0 (± 38.3) cases for every 100,000 people p.a. A significant correlation was observed between values for each prefecture and its respective population. Furthermore, no significant difference was observed in the number of cases for every 100,000 people between the 12 prefectures that participated in the higher brain dysfunction support model projects and the 27 that did not participate. These results suggest a reduction in the influence of the model projects. In addition, even distribution of the support system throughout the prefectures for people with higher brain dysfunction should be the focus of future efforts.
