Abstract
I make a presentation with regional characteristics of Mimasaka Province by "EMI NOSHO", which is a book of farming written at latter half of Edo Era. Items of presentaion as follows: (1) when and where was written "EMI NOSHO". "EMI NOSHO" was written 1823-24 and in Emi(easternmost part of MImasaka Privince). (2) geographical characteristics of Emi. Emi situate in small basin in Chugoku Mountains. Emi was a post town of Inaba Highway at Edo Era, so new informations of farming might have flowed in here by Highway. (3) farming characteristics of "EMI NOSHO". "EMI NOSHO" wrote how to grow 10 kindes of useful trees. "EMI NOSHO" wrote how to determine the sex of stuble of rice and cotton.
