Abstract
Hachinohe National College of Technology (HNCT) and Gahanna Lincoln High School in Ohio, inthe USA have been having cultural exchange programs and a good relationship since 2007. Gahanna LincolnHigh School sent their students to HNCT in 2007, and HNCT has sent their students to Gahanna Lincoln HighSchool three times; 2008, 2011, and 2012. In this paper, significance of the oversea short program in the USA forthe younger students at National College of Technology was examined from the students' perspectives. Allparticipants believe their oversea short program is very significant for them. Not only they have come to knowthat they need communication skills in foreign languages but also they strongly think they have become moreopen-minded and have gained confidence, the ability to understand different cultures, and the flexibility to acceptfor different values, through the oversea short program. Moreover, they have come to think about their society,life, study, etc. from the other point of view.
