Study on The Diffusion of Room Air Conditioners in Residences in Sapporo City

Abstract

Abstract: The percentage of homes with room air conditioners in Sapporo City is 60.1%. It is higher among the detached houses in Chuo Ward and is lower among the apartment complexes in Minami Ward. Most homes have a single air conditioning unit, often installed in the living room. The most common reason for installing room air conditioners is to prevent heat strokes, with only approximately 30% of the homes using them for heating. During our survey, approximately 60% of the respondents stated that installing air conditioners was unnecessary.
