Abstract
Based on the Ainu Culture Promotion Act in 1997, the Foundation for Research and Promotion of Ainu Culture (now the Foundation for Ainu Culture), was established as a corporation to perform the duties stipulated in the law, and has worked extensively to revitalize the Ainu language and culture, using video as an important tool. Since 1999, we have produced 35 educational videos over the past 25 years, preserving traditional crafts and performing arts. With the rise of mobile devices, we offer a wide variety of video content, including Ainu language courses and animations of oral literature. In 2020, the traditional performing arts of Upopoy were restored using archival footage. Video is an essential medium in promoting and preserving Ainu culture, and we are sharing its richness with a wider audience.
