Compact Interface System for Radiation Measurement Using a Dual-Slope AD Converter

Abstract

  A compact interface system for radiation measurement has been developed. It consists of an 8-bit CPU, an analogue multiplexer, an ADC and sample-hold amplifiers. The dual-slope AD converter IC, which was developed for the DAT (digital audio tape-recorder ; resolution, 16 bit ; conversion time, 22 μsec), is used. The ordinary personal computer can place this interface under control through the standard busline, GP-IB. Various operations, from typical pulse counting to multi-dimensional pulse height analysis, are possible in this system by means of modification only on the software.
