Abstract

The experimental cross-section data of the deuteron photodisintegration prior to 1974 are summarized in the photon energy region from 10 to 35 MeV. Since this cross-section is used to normalize cross-sections of other photonuclear reactions, its precise determination is important. The normalization of the 13C (γ, n0) cross-section by the use of that of the deuteron photodisintegration is shown as an example to indicate how the latter affects on the determination of the photonuclear cross-section.

The summary shows that there are discepancies up to 10% between experimental data and current theories of the deuteron photodisintegration in this energy region.

The summary suggests that more definitive experimental date obtained with monocromatic gamma-rays at photon energies between 10 and 20 MeV are necessary for further discussion of the discrepancies.
