Abstract

KamLAND holds 1000 tons of ultra pure liquid scintillator, and detector has succeeded in observing low energy solar neutrino, measurement of reactor anti-neutrino oscillations and discovery of anti-neutrinos from the Erath's interior. Recently further experiment searching for 136Xe neutrino-less double beta decay, KamLAND-Zen, has started using KamLAND detector as an active shield. The low radioactivity detector at the deep underground is providing successful physical results from these experiments. This article is to introduce purification works done in KamLAND and KamLAND-Zen and to share the experience for constructing an ultra pure experimental environment.
