Abstract
The oil refinery and petrochemical industry is dedicated to continuous efforts to improve the compatibility of their operations with the health, safety and environment while economically developing high quality products and services to consumers. The installation of an internal floating roof in an existing fixed roof tank for oil storage is the most effective solution for reducing evaporative emission. The aluminum internal floating roofs (AIFR) have been in service since 1950s. Now many AIFR are used in aboveground oil storage tanks all over the world. This paper describes new technologies of AIFR. These are the heavy duty skin and pontoon type, the cable suspended type, the GRP sandwith panel type and the rigid frame hollow panel type.
