Abstract
In this study, the residual stress analysis in repair welds of dissimilar pipe joint using temper bead technique was performed by means of Iterative Substructure Method (ISM) for fast computation of thermal elastic-plastic finite-element analysis. The mock-up test was also performed to measure the residual stress in repair welds of dissimilar pipe joint using temper bead technique. The analytical result was compared with the experimental result to confirm the accuracy of the developed residual stress analysis. As the result, residual stress distributions in repair welds were in good agreement between analytical and experimental results. Finally, the distribution characteristics of residual stress in repair welds of dissimilar pipe joint were discussed further based on the analytical results. Thus it was concluded that the developed residual stress analysis has the potential to become useful for accurate prediction and evaluation of residual stress distribution in repair welds.
