Abstract
This study aimed to clarify the support views of employees regarding the mutual complementarity of quality of work life (QWL) and quality of life (QOL) through an analysis of narratives of employees from work continuation support type-B offices.
Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine employees. Data were transcribed verbatim and analyzed
via Maying’s qualitative content analysis as a reference.
Consequently, 13 coding units were generated as factors that promoted the mutually complementary
improvement of users' QWL and QOL, which were classified into seven context units. Furthermore, these were
merged into four categories: “importance of daily sharing all the information and item work among staff,”
“importance of affirmative calling to users and follow-up by staff,” “importance of improving mutual
complementarity between QWL and QOL,” and “importance that users enjoy the office to the fullest by the
residence and working place.”
We clarified the support views of staff regarding the mutual complementarity of users' QWL and QOL.
Furthermore, we provided suggestions to promote the improvement of the mutual complementarity of QWL and
QOL in practice settings.
