Study on library accessibility of public universities for the people with disabilities

Abstract

It has been one of the key issues to develope effective methods to inform directions for the people with disabilities in health social services. Libraries expect to take roles as the information processing centre, which is situated near users in their community, and as a part of powerful sattelite center for health social services. The purpose of this study was to clarify the trend of universal accessivility toward library of pablic universities in all over Japan. In consequence, following tasks were pointed out. The outcome was brightly indicated that it will be important to promote not only barrierfree consolidation for institutional hardwere, but also assistive service of corresponding effective usage as softwere support, for instance reference service, voiced reading, humansupport, personnel education et al.
