High Accuracy Template Matching Using Eigen Decomposed Template

Abstract

This paper proposes a new method to detect the displacement and the rotational angle to match between the input and the template image. The proposed method calculates the correlation by matching the images given by eigen decomposition of the template image to the input image instead of matching the template image to the input image directly. The proposed method can detect the displacement and rotational angle more accurately than the previous method with the same calculation cost as the previous method.
