Evaluation Method of DEA Efficiency Values Based on Hierarchical Structure

Abstract

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a method for evaluating the management efficiency of Decision Making Units (DMUs). In DEA, there are three discussion issues in order to evaluate from multi-view points — 1. number of input and output items, 2. uniqueness of solution, and 3. complexity to understand features of DMUs from results — In order to overcome these issues, we propose a hierarchical structure DEA model and a visualization method. Then the utility of the proposed method is examined for Japanese universities data.
