Abstract
Recently, supersonic sensors for measuring short distance at low cost with relative high accuracy are widely used for collision avoidance sensor for automatic vehicle and robots. However, supersonic sensors may malfunction by sound noise in factories or by interference with another supersonic sensor. Then, new type of supersonic sensor has been studied, in which a chaos signal is used. The on-line measurement system is developed by using FPGA in the signal processing. This sensor system can measure a distance up to 10m with error of 2.2%. It is confirmed that this system is resistant to a sound noise or interference with another supersonic sensor.
