Abstract

Replacing a background of video chat with a landscape image is effective to protect privacy. However, if the illuminant colors of camera/landscape images differ widely, there is a possibility that users feel uncomfortable with the replacement result. Therefore, in our previous study, we have proposed a background replacement method using a chromatic adaptation transform (CAT) in order to reduce the uncomfortable feeling. However, affected by the brightness of a face area, CAT doesn't always work well under the conditions of the bluish or reddish landscapes. In this paper, we improve the method by using saturation.
