Abstract

Millimeter-wave frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar has been introduced to 24-hour monitoring applications of ground movements. Because of the rainy and summer seasons in Japan, the ground for monitoring is usually covered with weeds. Therefore, it is important to clarify the influences of vegetation on ground movement detection by millimeter-wave FMCW radar. This paper presents a quantitative evaluation of the detection characteristics and influence of vegetation through experiments using a 24GHz FMCW radar.
