Abstract

As part of a study on the potential medical applications of electric fields (EFs), we used an energy metabolism evaluation system based on breath gas analysis to evaluate the effects of restraint and EF treatment on the circadian rhythm indicated by the measured parameters. The results suggest that electric field treatment may affect the diurnal variation of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism induced by restraints. The results of this study will contribute to a new non-invasive approach for evaluating the safety and medical applicability of EFs.
