Abstract
Spread spectrum techniques have been researched in recent years in a broad area of applications. In applications other than communications, spread spectrum signals are used to obtain accurate range (time delay) and range rate (velocity) measurements in radar and navigation. In designing ranging system, we should consider characteristics of signal waveform, characteristics of electromagnetic field nearby transmitting and receiving antennas and target. In this article, we present a method for unified analysis of two types of pulse compression radar system. The analysis is based on a moment method and Fourier transform. It is profitable in our numerical analysis that the transfer function of propagation channel is not obtained by statistical results, but determine by electromagnetic theory. This method gives a clear physical pictures of the pulse compression and noise reduction mechanism. We also proposed a new type PN code radar system using base band pulse signal. Significant improvement of range resolution is obtained.
