Abstract

Current into electrical wiring at building directly hit by lightning is studied for representative wiring systems by using numerical electromagnetic analysis to discuss the energy rating of surge protective devices(SPD)installed for equi-potential bonding. Portions of lightning current into wiring on the top floor or on the bottom floor are largest. That into wiring on a floor where a cubicle is installed is especially large. Portions of lightning current into wiring are almost independent of the size of beams or columns of a building.
