Abstract
This paper investigates the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control method for a stand-alone-type PV generation system with a buck-type DC-DC converter. In this method,it is possible to the maximum power possible under the current conditions by sequentially performing the maximum power point detection and the tracking operation for a fixed number of cycles. In this paper,the elimination of the required inductor current sensing is investigated. Furthermore, the calculation method for the lower limit value of smoothing inductance and the appropriate detection cycles are clarified. Experiments performed on a stand-alone-type PV generation system revealed that this MPPT method yields an extremely high UUF(average solar cell output Useful Utilization Factor) level of 99%.
