Abstract
In recent years,Distributed Power System is widely used to provide electric power to the digital loads allocated on the data processing board. The digital load requires a low voltage and a high current power supply for its operation. Therefore,DC to DC converter,so called,"Point of Load (POL)",which allocated adjacent to the digital load,is required especially for a low voltage and a high current output. Also,POL is required a tight output regulation and a fast transient response against "a large load current step change "having high slew rate. In the analog controlled POL,that is operated by the voltage mode control, mostly uses the typeⅢ phase compensation circuit. Also the digital controlled POL which appeared in recent years, was using the similar control method. However, the digital controlled POL is hoped to have a new control algorithm for the fast transient response, which is difficult to implement in analog controlled POL. In this paper,we propose a new method,"feed forward type predictive control"using DSP. The proposed method is implemented in the full digital controlled POL with 1/8 brick size. Effectiveness of this algorithm against the first transient response is shown by the experiment.
