Abstract

A design method of synchronous machines using the analysis of the two-dimensional static magnetic field has been developed. By using the finite element method, field current, load angle, magnetic flux distribution and so forth, can be determined by giving the known quantities,in the designing stage,of load conditions such as terminal voltage, armature current. As an example of the analysis of an actual machine of a synchronous generator, the calculated no load, load saturation curve,short-circuit characteristics and so on,were in good agreement with measured values. The optimization of the pole shape of synchronous generator using the Rosenbrock's method (RBM) is also shown for the improvement of voltage waveform.
