Abstract
We have fabricated a new filter using two different liquid crystal devices, which decrease and increase color temperature of transmitted light, and confirmed the basic operation of a color-temperature controllable luminaire using the filter and a xenon lamp with flat radiation spectrum. The two liquid crystal devices containing dichroic dyes individually absorb short- and long-wavelength visible light. By driving the devices individually, color temperature of illuminated light was continuously varied from 3800K to 8200K.
