Abstract
The Saiseikai Shimonoseki General Hospital Library is small, with the person in charge holding another position in the hospital. Hospital library work is complicated, requring much time and labor. In 1984 two micro computers were placed in the library, and have been utilized to facilitate library use. The computers have also been applied to various aspects of library works. As a result, a library management system was set up in 1987 on the basis of dBASE III-personal computer database software. It includes the following: 1. Periodical processing including (1) display, input and correction of data, (2) printing of periodical data (to be published in annual reports.) and (3) retrieval of topics from Japanese periodicals. 2. Book control including (1) registration and correction of book data and (2) printing borrower's cards, an accession book and card catalog. 3. Document copy processing including (1) data input (2) request processing of application forms and request letters and envelopes, and (3) arrival processing and printing accounts, envelopes and copies of bills.
