Abstract
A citation analysis of comment articles appearing in Nature Medicine was performed. Nature Medicine is rated as having a high impact factor by the Journal Citation Reports. The citation analysis identified 462 comment articles and 2, 585 articles citing comment articles. The citations of comment articles were analyzed using the Web of Science. Comment articles were treated as original articles and were often cited. Many comment articles did not cite the original articles, while many articles did not cite comment articles. Original articles with comments were highly cited, so comment articles may provide an indication of which articles are being widely read.
