The present study showed a clear difference in the vulnerability to hypoxia in SHR, especially in A1-sb compared with NR. The increased vulnerability to hypoxia in SHR might be partly related to their increased cerebrovascular permeability preexisting under non-hypoxic state which was supposed to be augmented under hypoxia as proved in NR.
