Abstract

It is the very important problem to analyse the residual ethylene oxide (EOG) concentration in the medical devices for the safety of the patient.Gas chromatography is the useful method for the EOG analysis. But it is very difficult to prepare the standard EOG solution.Author investigated the simple method for the approximate calibration curve without EOG.It was found that the effective carbon number (ECN.) of acetaldehyde (ACH) is equal to that of EOG, so the calibration curve of ACH is similar to that of EOG.Moreover, it is very interested that the product of the ECN. of acetone (Actn) and the correction factor (1/2X44/58) is nearly equal to the ECN. of EOG. The corrected calibration curve of Actn is also similar to that of EOG.
