Abstract
The problem of how to provide long term care to the aged from the perspective of hospital administration has become one of the most important issues in Japan. In spite of this, relatively little is known about the suitable form of the provision of long-term care from hospitals and the influence to the financial situation of these hospitals.
In this paper, first, I try to typify the various kinds of patterns on provision of long term care by hospitals by using the cluster analysis on the questionnaire data that contain about 1000 samples. From this analysis, we can admit specific character from the five typified clusters.
Secondly, using the same data, I compute the odds ratio that hospital has more profitability than average level by using logistic regression analysis. From this analysis, we would confirm that there is statistically significant difference between the types of nursing care, which is provided by hospitals.
Consequently, this paper suggests that there are different influences on financial situation form how to provide related long term care by hospitals. It is also implied that hospital administrations should be consider about formation of the mixed provision of medical treatment and nursing care.
