Abstract

The purpose of this study was to clarify the functions of planning and management office in hospitals. A questionnaire survey was mailed to the directors of DPC/PDPS hospitals (1,830 hospitals) in June and July 2018. There were 159 respondents(9.2%), but only 157 feedback(9.1%)was analyzed. As a result, 6 components were extracted for the business trends in those departments by Principal Component Analysis. In addition, those departments were divided into 2 types by Cluster Analysis. We found that daily operation management is common function of the planning and management offices in hospitals. These analyses revealed that the offices can be divided into those which contribute to hospital’s investment planning, which is fundamental role of the office, and those which do not.
